The Biomechanics of Yoga: How to Practice Yoga Safely

Ancient yogis were masters at meditation, breathing and spiritual contemplation…but not biomechanics. The 18th century asana practice imported to the West has many benefits but also a number of risky challenges.  However, because yoga is deeply integrated with a spiritual philosophy, many are unwilling to question the teachings.

There is no doubt that the practice of yoga has had, and continues to have, a positive impact on people's quality of life.  Some of the 'magic' of yoga is an authentic mystery; however, some of the risks are very real.  Learn about biomechanics and how a safe yoga practice is one that honours the natural design of the human form.

This workshop promises to be one that invites us to question what we believe and empowers us to transform our own practice into a safe one.

NO previous yoga experience is necessary - all levels welcome!

Empowered Creator:  Reclaiming the Power of the Blood
From Menarche to Menopause and Beyond!

There was a time when women were revered with awe and respect because they had the power to ‘bleed and not die’.  Women who grew older and retained the power of the blood were considered the most powerful of all!  Thousands of years of patriarchal denigration and demonization of anything female has turned the menstrual cycle into something both women and men are to be ‘protected from’ and menopause into a joke.  In reality, every part of a woman’s life cycle is sacred.

Menses is the most natural and ultimate expression of empassioned creativity and the capacity to creature, nurture and sustain life.  And the wisdom that comes out of the wringer of menopausal transformation is much needed in the world today.  Regardless of the cycle of life you are currently in, healing your relationship with this integral part of yourself is critical to the journey towards self-love.  In this workshop, we’ll explore and deconstruct cultural menses and menopause myths from around the world and create new stories and meaning that support a passionate and empowered life...from menarche, to menses...and beyond!

The Goddess 101:  Reclaiming Your Herstories and Authoring Yourself

What does it mean to you to be a woman?  For many of us, much of what we have learned is filtered through the eyes of a patriarchal culture that has done more harm than good…to women and men alike.  Some of us experience an unsettling feeling that we’ve been sold a false bill of goods and, underneath the veneer of who we try to be there is a yearning to recover our ancient roots.

Worldwide, we have learned about what it means to be a living creature on this planet based on ‘histories’ that emerged from patriarchal cultural attempts to own and control nature and, by extension, women.  Buried beneath these histories are ‘herstories’ depicting the celebration of the universe in Her Feminine Form and the honouring of women; ancient ways of living that embraced community and partnership, primarily free from violence and in harmony with the natural rhythms of nature and the Universe.   It’s time to reclaim your sacred herstories and become the author of yourself.
