The Benefits of Yoga

The physical, emotional and mental benefits of yoga have been abundantly documented, including stress-reduction and supporting the body's innate ability to heal. While many of the poses that make up the asana practice can have far-reaching physical, emotional and mental benefits, how they are practiced and what you practice make a big difference to whether the postures can be helpful or harmful. For example, the over-abundance of forward-bending poses and hip openers in Western yoga have taken their toll on loyal practitioners, many of whom are women.
In Michele’s classes, you will be taught how to practice yoga in ways that acknowledge the biomechanics of the human body and honour the sacred design of the spine…while developing core strength, overall stability and mobility and some peace of mind.
COVID-SPECFIC PROTOCOLS
While London remains under various levels of COVID-specific restrictions, the studio meets sanitizing and social distancing requirements, as follows:
Some things to know about Michele's studio
I have created a sacred studio space in the basement of my home at 847 Headley Drive, in London, ON. Access is via a dedicated entrance at the back of the house. There is a washroom located immediately upon entrance into the house and 10 carpeted steps leading down to the entrance of the studio, with handrails on both walls for extra support, if required.
I have all of the equipment you would typically need for a yoga class. However, feel free to bring your own equipment, if you would prefer. All of my mats, blankets and blocks are sanitized after each class.
While classes are in progress, an air purifier and essential oil diffuser are actively keeping the air purified. If you have scent-sensitivities, I will turn the essential oil diffuser off.
There is a cat in our house; however, he spends most of his days napping on a comfortable bed upstairs. He is restricted from accessing the studio space.
There is space for 3 cars to park in the driveway, with additional parking available on the street.
I feel blessed to invite people to share the practice of yoga in my sacred space and look forward to taking the journey with you!

- Students are asked to wear a mask upon entering the building and until they are settled onto their individual mat space and once again when they are preparing to leave.
- Students will be asked to complete a health-questionnaire at the beginning of each class. If you should answer YES to any of the health questions, you will be asked to kindly return to your home and take good care of yourself.
